Rene Roper

René Roper is a lawyer & consultant with almost 15 years’ experience working on high-impact projects and cross border commercial transactions. She is the Founder, CEO & Chief Legal Advisor of BeyondLegal and DataPro Consulting.

Her experience spans a broad range of areas: banking and finance, AML & financial regulation, corporate and commercial law, international law, arbitration, privacy and data protection. She writes often in these areas and is widely published.

Her legal career blends work in the private and public spheres and at the micro and macro levels of law and policy. She is often engaged as a Consultant and advisor to the government and has contributed to policy and law reform in critical areas of development within the Caribbean region. She is a skilled legislative drafter, having drafted several pieces of legislation, including the suite of reforms necessary to have Jamaica removed from the FATF’s greylist.

René holds a Masters in Law (LL.M) from Queen Mary, University of London. She is also a graduate of the Norman Manley Law School and UWI (Cave Hill), where she graduated as Valedictorian and served as an Adjunct Lecturer & Tutor in Public International Law.
