Peter Mason

Arbitrator and Mediator, Arbitra International

Peter Mason FCIArb is a New York-based international Arbitrator and Mediator. A dual national of Australia and the USA and admitted in both countries, he is a member of London’s Arbitra International and is on the roster of arbitrators at a wide range of arbitral institutions including in London, Tokyo, Vienna, Cayman Islands, and BVI. He has expertise in banking and finance; general commercial matters; vaccines and pharmaceuticals; licensing and intellectual property; construction and logistics; and family disputes.  He has a particular focus on disputes involving trusts and fiduciary duties.

Peter Mason brings to his practice thirty-five years’ experience as an international commercial litigator in Sydney and New York; and more recently as a C-suite senior executive and global chief legal officer of Unicef, a high-profile enterprise. He has a keen understanding of international commercial transactions and of different business and disputes cultures.

In his work as a Mediator he stresses the importance of the parties’ owning the process and outcome, and works patiently to help the parties craft solutions. As an Arbitrator he is committed to helping parties secure the efficient and timely resolution of their dispute.

He holds degrees in Economics and Law from the University of Sydney. Peter Mason was born in Papua New Guinea.
