Nicola is an attorney-at-law, arbitrator and the principal of Berrys Attorneys & Arbitrators, a commercial law firm in Barbados which advises on a wide range of corporate and commercial law matters including banking, corporate finance, financial regulation, securities, mergers and acquisitions, merger control, energy regulation, and arbitration.

Nicola is experienced in conducting diverse matters in the energy market including regulatory proceedings. Through her work in the energy market as a former director of the Barbados Renewable Energy Association Inc., a member of the Ministry of Energy’s PPA Sub-committee and acting in legal matters, Nicola has gained an in-depth understanding of the energy business and the legal issues which arise. Renewable energy construction projects are complex and contractual and regulatory disputes arise from time to time. Nicola has advised on the use of arbitration in the energy sector.

Nicola is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London) and a member of their approved faculty.  She serves as an arbitrator on the Arbitration Commission of the Barbados Olympic Association Inc. and on the arbitration panel for the Arbitration and Mediation Court of the Caribbean (Barbados). Nicola has served as an arbitration panel member and consulting counsel in arbitration proceedings.
